Bird Talk at Hawthorn Hollow! Author Steve Betchkal Presents “All of This and Robins Too: Wisconsin’s Richness of Birds” Birds add to the quality of our lives in so many ways: they’re colorful, they’re fascinating, they eat bugs, and they add music to our world. Wisconsin supports more than 400 species of wild birds, but how well do you know them? Bird expert Steve Betchkal explores some amazing facts about birds – from migration to anatomy, with a healthy dose of humor and conservation. Author Steve Betchkal – an ornithologist, environmentalist, and Emmy and Murrow Award-winning veteran journalist – has worked at three national parks and camped and backpacked 67 others. Betchkal has written books on birds including All of This and Robins Too: A Guide to the 50 or So Best Places to Find Birds in Wisconsin and Birding Trails Wisconsin: 100 Birding Locations Across the Badger State. This event takes place at Hawthorn Hollow’s Hyslop Nature Center and registration is required. There will be a Q&A with Steve after the presentation, along with books for purchase and complimentary refreshments. Tickets are only $5 (plus fees) thanks to the generous sponsorship by our friends in the Hoy Audubon Society and Wild Birds Unlimited-Pleasant Prairie.Read More
